Global Scribes™ is a nonprofit organization which fosters global unity by connecting youth to build cultural understanding and worldwide community through the beauty and the power of the written word and creative expression.

OUR PURPOSE
Create. Connect. Collaborate. Youth, ages 8-25, are invited to share their stories through creative writing, through visual arts, and through the collaboration of team passions. Global Scribes facilitates healthy, culturally-enriching relationships within an environment free from politics, religion, causes, and socio-demographic segregation. We focus on global journeys through the written word, visual & audio arts, dynamic interaction, and consistent interplay across multiple virtual platforms– Education, Focused Passion, Fun and Play Intertwined. For Youth, By Youth–working together to break through barriers and build a world of friendship where solid global foundations may form.

Youth participation as an individual, within a classroom, organization or club environment follows a 4-step process. 1/ Write. Each month global scribes write creative stories inspired by a monthly ‘Spark’ word chosen by one of our schools, organizations or youth. 2/ Video Selfie video, reading, storytelling, acting out– Step 1 & Step 2 are uploaded to GS's YouTube Channel. 3/ Film. Every Global Scribes member shares, on an annual or semi-annual basis, their unique, personal, version of THE LIFE I LEAD–a 3-7 minute short film. (we will show you how to make it!) And, 4/ Teams of Passion. Each youth selects his/her GS Team. What is their passion? What have they dreamed of doing, studying, exploring? Art? Music? Architecture? Sports? Writing? Science/Nature? Technology? Food? Broadcast Journalism? Photography? Theater?

One of the most impactful elements of Global Scribes™ is our philosophy that there is no right or wrong, good or bad, in one's expression of self – you are not being critiqued on your 'Letter to the World' *. Exchanging personal narratives is the foundation of our global community. We invite all people to contribute within the framework of our mission – with authenticity, integrity, spirit, respect, courage, creativity, kindness, grace and gratitude – to learn from one another the unique and similar aspects of our global cultures. All of this within a supportive environment brimming with other global youth excited to meet new friends and explore new cultures.
Team Leader
I am Gem Rose G. Cavalida, a 4th year BS Education-English student of PHINMA University of Iloilo. I am the Core Head Leader of the Global Scribes – Philippines, also the Leader in Photography Team. I travel more as a journalist than as tourist. I am currently the Associate Editor in our school publication, The UI Star. I am a booklover, and my heart is into literature and language. I love learning about culture and history. And I always believe that everyone is a star, and we can shine---with our own luster in our own different spots.
